Grants Awarded by Rotary Club of Fort Myers South

Rotary Club of Fort Myers South awarded three community grants to local organizations on January 30, 2017, totaling $7,000. McGregor Clinic provides holistic, integrated health care to people living with HIV/AIDS. They provide case management and prevention services to the community at large. The organization has been in operation here for 17 years. The $2,500 grant given by Rotary South will be used to enhance the Positive Living Room. Valerie’s House is a non-profit organization devoted to providing children and their families, who have experienced the death of a loved one, a safe place to share and experience support with others who are also grieving, while moving through the healing process. Their mission is to help children and families work through the loss of a loved one together and go on to live fulfilling lives. Their vision that no child will grieve alone.  Although the organization was founded about just one year ago, it already serves more than 90 children throughout Southwest Florida. Meetings are held in Fort Myers, Cape Coral, and now Naples.  The Rotary South grant of $2,500 will be used to purchase furniture for children’s art room, arts & crafts supplies, grief books and welcome kits for new families. Fort Myers High School’s Junior ROTC was given a grant of $2,000 to help them purchase some much-needed equipment for their program. These grants are made possible through various events and fundraisers organized and presented by members of the club, including the Law and Order Ball and All-Star Classic football game.
